The Winter Season consists of Cross Country and Race Walking activities. Both programs welcome athletes of ALL abilities and provide a fun environment to try something new, fine tune your skills and keep active over the Winter!
The Race Walking Season gives athletes an opportunity to do something different and participate in competitions away from the athletics track! It is a great way for athletes to practice and work on their technique in a relaxed and friendly environment! The course utilises a paved pathway through the parklands, and is not conducted on a public road.
Please note that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the entire 2020 Race Walking Season has been cancelled.
Little Athletics SA are very excited to launch the 2020 Cross Country Season. With the current easing of COVID-19 restrictions, we have been busy exploring options to provide athletes with an opportunity to participate in some form of a Cross Country season this year.
To ease the pressure off Little Athletics Clubs hosting meets, Little Athletics SA will be running a three-staged season, which will include the following components:
To start off the season and allow athletes to get back into a long-distance format, we will introduce four (4) weeks of virtual Cross Country events, through a free application called Bolt for Gold. The virtual events will run over the following weeks:
Athletes can run an unlimited amount of times per week, with their best time being recorded on an electronic certificate, which will be emailed to all athletes after the fourth week of events. As mentioned, this will be a great way to ease athletes into activity and give them a focus on their PB’s. CLICK HERE for further information and how to register!
Little Athletics SA will run two (2) free, physical Cross Country meets, held at Bonython Park, Adelaide. Due to the level of restrictions, these meets will have limited registrations to ensure a safe and manageable number of athletes are in attendance over the day. Registrations will open in the coming weeks and will be made accessible through our social media channels and website. The dates for these meets are:
Little Athletics SA will hold the State Cross Country Championships on Sunday 2nd August 2020, at Bonython Park, Adelaide. This course will be the same as the previous physical meets, will include medals and trophies, and will have no qualifying standards. Registrations will also be limited due to restrictions, with more information on the specific numbers to come.
