The Winter Season consists of Cross Country and Race Walking activities. Both programs welcome athletes of ALL abilities and provide a fun environment to try something new, fine tune your skills and keep active over the Winter!
The Race Walking Season gives athletes an opportunity to do something different and participate in competitions away from the athletics track! It is a great way for athletes to practice and work on their technique in a relaxed and friendly environment! The course utilises a paved pathway through the parklands, and is not conducted on a public road.
STATE RACE WALKING CHAMPIONSHIPS: This event is the ‘grand final’ for the race walking season, where athletes of all ability levels compete against one another in a fun paved pathway course through the lovely Adelaide Parklands. The Championship is a great opportunity for all athletes to utilise the skills and techniques learnt at the meets in a more formal and competitive environment!
*Please be aware that to qualify for the Championships, all athletes must compete in a minimum of one of the four race walking meets throughout the season.
The Cross Country season gives athletes an opportunity to run a distance race over different terrain and courses each week. Most events include creeks, mud and hills! It does not matter what your ability level is, the Little Athletics SA Cross Country season is the perfect recreational activity for any child or adult! It caters for anyone that wants to give distance running a go as YOU get to choose what distance you would like to participate in. It is also a great way to improve your fitness and make new friends!
Athletes from the Tiny Tots to Under 17 age group may take part in cross country events. All cross-country events also include events for Mums and Dads, Rec Aths members, and an open event too.
STATE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS: This event is a great opportunity for athletes of all ability levels to compete in a distance run, over different terrain. The State Cross Country Championships is for registered athletes in the Under 9 to Under 17 age groups, but does also involve fun events for the Under 6 to Under 8’s, Tiny Tots, Mums and Dads, and Rec Aths members.
*Please by aware that to qualify for the Championships, all athletes must compete in at least three Cross Country meets throughout the season.
