Athlete of the Month


Coles has come on board to support The South Australian Little Athletics Athlete of the Month Award Scheme.
This award aims to recognise the outstanding efforts and contribution our athletes make in Little Athletics each week on and off the track. Centres are encouraged to nominate athletes for the award on a monthly basis. Athletes can be nominated for their award in either the Commitment or Achievement categories.

For the 2018/19 season Little Athletics SA would like to congratulate the following Athletes on their nominations:

Woodville  Little Athletics 

A big congratulations to Lauren for being a well-deserved 2018/19 Athlete of the Year winner for the Commitment category!

Lauren has been a pivotal Member of the Woodville Little Athletics Centre since the beginning of the 2006/2007 Season as a Tiny Tot. She has attended a massive 268 home meets and has not missed a single one since under 6’s. Throughout Lauren’s 13 years at Little Aths, she has successfully been named the ‘most improved’ athlete in her age group a total of 11 times!

When Lauren is not on the track, she is contributing in other areas, such as assisting with set up and pack down for the past 7 seasons. Occasionally on Saturday mornings, Lauren will tend to the Canteen, whilst also taking on the shared role of Tiny Tots Co-ordinator this season. Lauren inspires her fellow athletes and shows additional support and encouragement to the Tiny Tots. Not only does Lauren show dedication and commitment to her Athletics but also assists in a variety of areas around the Woodville Athletics Centre, all whilst competing as an Under 17 Athlete.

Mid Coast Little Athletics

A big congratulations to Luella for being a well-deserved 2018/19 Athlete of the Year winner for the Achievement category!

Luella, from the Mid Coast Little Athletics Centre, achieved incredible results in the 2018/19 season. Her achievements calculated her to be the 2018/19 Athlete of the Year – Achievement award recipient, with 5 points awarded for each Personal Best and 10 points for each Centre Best.

Luella’s managed to achieve an unbelievable 34 personal bests, as well as a staggering 8 home centre best records and 5 away centre best records throughout the season!

Luella has shown an exceptional work ethic, which is highly evident in the fantastic results Luella produced; with a personal best in the following events: 400M, 90M Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin, 200M, 100M, 1500M Walk, 300H, 800M, Discus, Shot Put and the 1500M!

Luella also competed in all state events for the season, winning multiple medals at State Relay Championships, and State Individual Championships.
